The brain made me do it

Now here's a great new excuse for acting mean - why not blame it on a psychological disorder? "Intermittent explosive disorder" (IED) affects more than 7% of people in the US, according to a study lead by Ronald Kessler of the Harvard Medical School in Boston. IED is characterised by sudden, inappropriate levels of rage. The disorder is more common in people under the age of 25, and generally begins at the lovely pubescent age of 14.
It seems medical disorders are fast becoming a convenient scapegoat for all our little faults. Moody? It's just the hormones, honey. Anxious? You might be an extreme dreader. Overweight? Oh it's not your willpower, it's hardwired into your genes! Oh dear.
Bad grades and laziness, once thought to come hand in hand may have nasty "disorders" behind them too. In April, ABC Science reported on the fallacy of assuming premature ejaculation is a disease. "There's no sickness, there's no pathology, nothing is broken," said psychologist Dr Leonore Tiefer, of the New York University School of Medicine, at the Inaugural Conference on Disease-Mongering in Newcastle.
Well, whatever it is, there's certainly a lot of money to be made in disease mongering, that's for sure!

IED just sounds like another thing people can blame when things don't go their way instead of taking responsibiilty for their actions.
I wonder who discovers these diseases anyway??!!!
