Darwin's Conspiracy

Darwin Conspiracy
There's loads of this stuff on the internet, so I feel kind of uninspired even linking to it... I'd normally ignore these sites, but this one just made me groan and go 'Oh, for the love of...'

Darwin Conspiracy! (top secret! top secret!)

Yes, it's a site that claims to blow the lid off the vast conspiracy in the scientific community to suppress the truth, that evolution is a bald-faced lie, meant to weaken our eventual faith. They start with a bang:

"On this website we reveal three fatal flaws in the Theory of Evolution that conclusively prove Darwin was wrong."

Yep. You know there's going to be a heavy load of manure coming out of this one. The choice of wording is especially enlightening: 'fatal' and 'conclusively prove'.

With heavy vocab like that, you'd imagine that they've got some research going on, some paper published, maybe even some data.

Well, the flaws are:

1) Evolution is missing a mathematical formula

2) Evolution is missing a way to add genes

3) Helpless babies contradict the survival of the fittest

Am I alone in thinking that these three points are ludicrous examples of 'proof'?

I only have the energy to look at the first point, which has a nice little article for us to read:

"Essentially every accepted scientific theory has a mathematical formula to support it, and to prove it really works. Einstein's Theory of Relativity has e=mc2; Newton's second law of motion has f=ma. Mendel's Laws were quantifiable using ratios. The list goes on and on: Kepler's laws of planetary motion, Boyle's law, Bernoulli's Principle, Charle's Law, etc., etc., etc."

Wonderful stuff. Using Einstein's and Newton's laws as proof against evolution is lunacy... look at the fields in biological science... when dealing with population and evolutionary biology, we can only talk in terms of statistics. Within this field, there are certainly formulas that help predict population behaviours, but this is not a field like physics or chemistry.

I could say something.

Read up on Fred Hoyle's opinions.

The issue is very complicated and that is why it is called the theory of evolution rather than the law. Most people who open their mouths to speak on the subject never read Darwin's Origin of Species.

However this persons triumphantism lacks any real merit.
1) Evolution is missing a mathematical formula

Problem is that Biology is not an exact science and cannot be measured in the same way as chemistry and physics. There is no such thing as the predicted future of biology. Just like trying to predict the future of history the variables are too many.

2) Evolution is missing a way to add genes.

Some validity when you consider the length of a gene. Often referred to as the Junk Yard question. Pretend that you have the part of a Jumbo Jet in a junk yard. Could the wind ever blow in such a manner as to assemble a working 747. The simplest life form is for more complicated than a 747. So why does it form that way? The answer is: we do not know. Yet a mechanism yet to be discovered must exist for it to do so. The first to discover will get a Nobel Prize for sure.

3) Helpless babies contradict the survival of the fittest.

Neither proves nor disproves evolution. Since evidence is unattainable any hypothesis can be put forward.

However there is a 4th question problem that he has not tackled: The Second Law of Thermo Dynamics. The movement of order to disorder called entropy. This complicates the problem because according evolution we should progress to something better but according to entropy we should be slowing heading off to chaos. So what is causes the progress?

I think the problem is too many people pin too much hope on evolution to make a social or political point. Rather than a scientific one.
Some fundamentalists think that killing off Darwinism will kill of atheism. Some militant atheists think that evolution will kill of religion.

The old science is on my side of politics argument.

Everyone has their own little untold secret, which they rather keep the secrets under the closet...
